Sri Lanka’s tropical beaches are a true delight, attracting sun-seekers, fun lovers, and surfers year-round. With a 1,340-kilometer (833-mile) coastline, the island boasts countless topographically varied beaches, coves, and bays.

Trincomalee

There are 9 popular sandy beaches in Trincomalee famous for dolphin and whale watching, scuba diving, snorkeling, water sports and for just relaxing in the beach. It has a natural deep-water harbor that attracted traders and pilgrims from all parts of the world since ancient days. There is a beautiful Hindu temple that you can visit here.

Nilaweli Beach

The 88Km long Nilaweli beach sand stretch is one of the best beaches in Sri Lanka for relaxation and activities like Jet Ski Safari, surfing, diving and swimming. The Pigeon Island which is just 10 minutes away from the beach which is one of the best sites for snorkeling. This beach attracts thousands of tourists throughout the year.

Arugam Bay

This is one of the best beaches for wind – Surfing and major attraction among the tourist. The beach and the nearby National Park Kumana are places for adventures activities. Spending a couple of days here will be a memorable experience. 

Southern Beaches

Hikkaduwa Reef, Unavatuna, Mirissa Bay water sports, Hiriketiya, Tangalle are some of the things that you should not miss!. Visit the turtle hatchery to see baby turtles, Unavatuna Japanese Peace Pagoda and Jungle Beach, and many more spots around for water sorts, swimming and snorkeling. 

Hummanaya Blow Hole

There are only 6 blow holes in the world and Hummanaya in Southern Beach is the 2nd largest among them. The fountain like sea water spray shoots up to 60ft high.
