Sinharaja Rainforest

Named as another important UNESCO heritage site in Sri Lanka, its largest virgin forest is the home for more than 50% of the island’s endemic species of mammals and butterflies, insects, reptiles and rare amphibians in an area of 88.64 square kilometers. Apart from Elephants, Sambar Deer, Mouse Deer, Barking Dear, Leopards, Brown Mongoose, Golden Palm Civet, Lizards, and different varieties of Frogs are commonly spotted at this forest. Sinharaja Rainforest is the home for 95% of the endemic birds found in Sri Lanka.

Elephant Orphanage in Pinnawala

Located in Colombo – Kandy Road in Kegalle, elephant orphanage was founded in order to afford care and protection for elephant found in the jungles in Sri Lanka. It is the home for about 100 elephants and they live freely in this place. Feeding elephant and watch elephant bathing in the river are most popular among tourists visiting Sri Lanka.

Ritigala

Ritigala is the highest mountain in northern Sri Lanka, an ancient Buddhist monastery that was home for 10,000 Buddhist Monks. The ruins and rock inscriptions of the monastery date back to 1st century BCE. It is located 43 km from Anuradhapura town. Ritigala mountain consists of four peaks 799m above sea level, which rise steeply up to 600m from the surrounding plain. Minneriya National Park is another reserve which is popular for safari. Tourists can cover safari in both of these forests in one day.

Udawalawa National Park

This is the best place to see wild Asian Elephants. This is a small reserve of 120 Square miles, but there are over 250 elephants living in it, so you can be sure you see them with no doubt.

Knuckles Range

Knuckles Mountain Range in Kandy and Matale Districts is a very popular tourists’ attraction and also a UNESCO heritage site. There are five peaks in the range, and green valley’s famous for the value of its biodiversity.  The weather is unpredictable, sometimes foggy and rainy and that makes the place more attractive and challenging tourists. Its famous for hiking and trekking, and also you may enjoy sometimes staying in a small village inside the jungle.
