Kithulgala
Kithulgala is a small town located 85 miles away from Colombo is now famous for adventure holidays. Kelani rive and tropical forests provide the scenic beauty to this little town, and the beauty of it was the reason to record the Academy Award winner British movie Bridge on the River Kwai ( 1957) by David Lean. The Kelani River is wide and safer in this area, so it provides the best environment for white water rafting. All equipment and guides area available if you wish to join the adventure. This is also a good place for bird watching.
Knuckles
If you are experienced in hiking, Knuckles Mountain Range is an eco-tourism venue that you should not miss! Covering 234 square kilometers in cool climate, it is full of rare trees and animals in 34 mountains with tough hiking trails crossing rivers, waterfalls and tea and paddy estates.
